The treatments for body odour, especially armpit odour and anaemia have been discovered by lecturers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK). The researchers, led by Professor Kingsley Anukanu of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science of the institution in their findings, say if when Lactobaccili is fused into a body cream, the offensive odour coming from the body, especially armpit, is drastically reduced. Lactobaccili according to the researchers, is the type of bacteria found in Yoghurts.
As well, the institution’s researcher, led by Professor Joseph Ikechebelu of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has discovered that ‘Mojega’ when combined with iron therapy corrects anaemia faster than iron treatment alone.
The team says, when Alchorrea cordifolia, pennisetum glaucum and sorghum bicolor, known as Mojega, are extracted and mixed, they are shown to be effective in battling anaemia ( ‘low blood level’) in pregnant women.
The combined team of researchers involved in the study were Doctor George Eleje (lead author) from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UNIZIK and others from Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu University, University of Nigeria and Enugu State University.
