The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has raised the stakes for the newly employed staff being trained in readiness for the task ahead of them in the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olufemi Peters, during the occasion of the induction ceremony which took place at AEI Luxury Apartment at Jabi Abuja, disclosed that whoever failed to pass the induction exam would not be confirmed.
He added that those who transferred their services would also sit for the exam, which if they fail they would not be paid their ODL allowance until they pass.
Professor Peters stated that henceforth anybody employed in NOUN would have to go through a MOOC course, register for it, go through the induction sit for the exam, and then get a certificate.
All the recently employed staff by NOUN, both teaching and non-teaching staff, were made to go through induction workshops to ensure the provision of highly accessible and quality education to Nigerians.
All the principal staff of the University and the 202 new staff from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other states attended the workshop.
The workshop was anchored by the Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL).
The Vice-Chancellor related what necessitated the programme, saying, “When people come to NOUN certain things are lost on them and that is the reason why we need to go through this induction.”
