The National Universities Commission (NUC) has commenced its thorough re-accreditation exercise for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes in Lagos State University.
The reception by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and other principal officers, of the NUC team marked the start of the re-accreditation exercise.
The VC and her team also received the NUC accreditation team for the Botany programme at the College before the team proceeded to the main campus.
Professor Olatunji-Bello said the institution was hopeful on the strength of “our preparation and available facilities that this accreditation exercise will be successful.”
She assured the NUC team of the staff and students’ readiness to cooperate with them before handing each faction of the team to their respective Deans of faculties and programme heads.
According to one officer of NUC, he was impressed by the commitment of the Teaching Hospital and the College to uphold the highest quality of medical dental education.”
Another officer said that the visit was a feedback mechanism to maintain the standards in “our universities and ensure learning and teaching continues to keep up with the global standards.”
