The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja has signed a partnership agreement on artisans training with the Nwosa Foundation.
The partnership agreement which was sealed on Monday, recently at the university’s boardroom 1 had representatives of both institutions present.
In his welcome address, the Acting President of AUST, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS, thanked the entire members of Engr. Nwosa Foundation for coming up with the proposal which he referred to as very important to the engineering department of AUST as at this time.
Prof. Onwualu stressed on the high interest AUST has in skill acquisition and practical experience for its students, hence the setting up of AUSTinspire Business Incubation Center.
He harped on the need for international partnerships with AUST more especially in the area of research, innovation and entrepreneurship even as he frowned at the increasing rate of foreigners taking up engineering works in Nigeria.
Responding on behalf of the Nwosa Foundation, Engr. Lucky J.U. Nwosa, stated that the long-term mission of the foundation at AUST, is to train qualified artisans who will take over key roles in Nigeria’s engineering discipline in the nearest future.
He thanked the AUST’s Acting President for approving his foundation’s proposal and promised to carry on with the tasks as enshrined in Memorandum of Understanding.
Afterwards, the AUST President, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, signed the MoU on behalf of the university, while Engr. Chief Lucky Nwosa, signed on behalf of his foundation.
Dr. Vitalis Anye, Coordinator of the AUSTinspire and Acting Head of Department of Materials Science and Engineering, signed as witness for AUST, while Dr. Mrs. Loveth Nwosa signed as witness for Engr. Nwosa Foundation.
Also present at the partnership agreement signing were Mr. Ben Okonkwo, AUST Bursar; Dr. Prisca Onuoha, AUST CPD short courses controller, Dr.. Abdulhakeem Bello, AUST’s Director of Academic Planning, while Prof. Ebenezer Okonkwo and Prof Mick Ezeh, was in the team for the Nwosa Foundation.
