Following the recent protest witnessed in the University of Lagos (Unilag), the management of the institution has pledged that it will ameliorate the challenges caused by the review of the University’s obligatory fees.
This is contained in a release signed by the Head of Communication Unit for University of Lagos Management, Thursday Sept. 7, 2023.
It listed the measures to cushion the challenges being reviewed and expanded to include payment by instalment; revitalization of work study programme; scholarship opportunities assistance for indigent students; Triple A Project; pay for mentors project; partnership with Lagos Bus Rapid Transport among others.
The authority requested the students to channel their grievances through the Dean, Students Affairs who is officially empowered to interact with students, assuring them of the university’s dedication to uphold its mandate and cater to the welfare of its community.
On Wednesday Sept. 6, the students of the University embarked on protest over hike in school fees.
During the protest, two students were said to have been arrested by the police who was said to have fired teargas at them, while other students who had converged scampered for safety.
