An impersonator on social media platforms has devised various methods to send messages which are not from the Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, Professor Mrs. Florence Banku Obi, to unsuspecting members of public with the aim of swindling them.
According to the statement issued by the Public Relations Office of the institution, the impersonator in his fake message claimed the Federal Government had approved the supply of HP laptops to the institution.
However, the Public Relations Office of the University has denied this fake message, saying it is a calculated attempt at defrauding people of their hard-earned money.

The statement gave the WhatsApp number of the fellow as 09136530445 who is on various social media platforms promising to award contracts to some unsuspecting members of the public.
Meanwhile, the statement cautioned the public to desist from doing business with anyone on social media masquerading as the VC Unical, warning anyone who falls prey to the antics of the con-artist does so at his or her own risk.
It warned members of the public further to be wary of con-artists and unscrupulous elements impersonating the institution’s VC.
The statement added that University of Calabar, and by extension the VC would not condescend to the level of asking for financial gratifications of any kind from anyone on social media.
