The Lagos State Government has disclosed that it will build a student arcade and tech hub in other new institutions as it did for Lagos State University (LASU).
This announcement was made by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu when he met with student unions and other key stakeholders at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
The event entitled Students as Strategic Partners in the Governance Process: Challenges and Prospect for Youth Development is an interface between the student unions and stakeholders.
He promised that his government would build additional accommodation for students to make learning conducive for them.
Governor Sanwo-Olu added that the state would also provide scholarships for physically challenged students of state-owned institutions.
“Both indigenes and non-indigenes will benefit from this scholarship; we have reviewed our scholarship upward to N250,000,” saying both indigenes and non-indigenes would be beneficiaries.
The Governor also announced that the state had increased the bursary from N50,000 to N60,000.
“We want to relieve parents in the face of the hard economic situation; with our collaborative effort, we will come out stronger,” he said.
Speaking during the event, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr Tolani Sule, stated that engaging the stakeholders was crucial due to the significant roles youths play in the development agenda.
The Commissioner praised the Governor for approving the programme promptly, recognizing that youths were essential for the brighter future of the country.
